With large LNG developments planned for remote parts of Australasia including Papua New Guinea, global energy contractors face the difficult task of undertaking significant construction activities in regions with minimal supporting infrastructure.
Agility Project Logistics has a proven track record of delivering customised logistics solutions to complex and remotely located LNG construction projects.
Agility was appointed as the logistics provider for Woodside's North West Shelf Train 5 LNG Project in 2005 followed by successfully gaining the logistics contract for the $11.1 billion Pluto LNG Project in 2008.
Across these two projects, Agility transported in excess of 1.1 million tonnes of international and domestic freight utilising air/sea charters, barges and heavy haulage to strategically placed lay-down areas.
In 2009, Agility was contracted to the Gorgon LNG Project to supply base operations and transport services. As the project is being constructed on Barrow Island (a class A nature reserve), the project has stringent quarantine requirements. All quarantine services are performed at the Agility-managed supply bases in Perth and Dampier.
In 2010, Agility secured logistics contracts in Papua New Guinea (PNG) to support the $13.9 billion PNG LNG Project. For this complex and remote project, Agility is designing and constructing a logistics supply base in Lae to support various engineering, procurement and construction contractors through its construction phase. Due to the remote location of the construction site, Agility is required to truck in excess of 15,000 truckloads of cargo from the supply base in Lae to the site.
Agility is one of the world's leading providers of integrated logistics with close to $6 billion in annual revenue and more than 25,000 employees in 550 offices across 100 countries. Agility also has the capacity to provide accommodation and catering through its sister company, GCC-ACS.
