Study Scope

The Papua New Guinea Liquefied Natural Gas (PNG LNG) Project commercialises gas resources located in the southern highlands of PNG. As part of the overall project, the existing Oil Search Limited (OSL) oil field facilities at the Kutubu Central Processing Facility (CPF) were modified.

Hydraulic Analysis Limited carried out a dynamic simulation study to review the response and interaction between associated gas production, compression and re-injection/export. The study covered the control of the reinjection gas and the interaction with the CPF area and its control systems (including the CCC system). The study reviewed the response of control and safety systems, reviewed the suitability of the proposed control/safety system set points and recommended set points and control parameters. It was also used to generate supporting information for the closeout of a number of HAZOP action items.

Simulators of each system, including the multiple control systems were built and various start-up and shutdown scenarios were modelled. The split range dual pressure / flow controllers were modelled and formed an integral part of the study.
